I’ve been at this for many years, as both a journalist and a fiction writer, and have always had the great good fortune of finding excellent teachers when I needed them. I don’t take this for granted, because I know people who’ve searched fruitlessly for the right teacher for a long time. My goal is simply to pay my good luck forward when I can, whether by teaching, editing, giving readings, or in whatever way presents itself. I’m not the best teacher or editor for everyone, obviously; no one can be that. But when I click with my students or clients, we all seem to benefit, and I find a lot of joy in that. I teach at the Writing Salon in Berkeley, CA, and previously taught at UCLA Extension online. My students have been accepted into several prestigious MFA programs around the country.
I provide editing services for both individual and institutional clients, including fiction and nonfiction projects such as articles, essays, short stories, and book-length works.
